As someone who's been elk hunting for 5/6 years out here in Montana, and listening to The Rich Outdoors for the same amount of time, this course brought back important topics covered in Wapiti Wednesdays, And throughout the history of the podcast but put it in a more condensed format, that puts hundreds of hours of information at your fingertips. It connected dots during the off-season when pondering on all the mistakes ive made. Unfortunately an injury a week before season kept me out of the mountains this year, but i felt very confident heading into season strapped with some new knowledge and the course has continued to help me grow as i focused more on scouting this year. Looking forward to next year!

I downloaded this course before departing on my 32-hour drive to Montana for my first Western hunt and successfully harvested a 5x5 bull! I work as a wildlife biologist and habitat consultant, helping landowners manage their properties for whitetail. That is to say, I feel very confident in my pursuit of WTD. When I drew an elk tag for Montana, I knew I was going to have my work cut out for me on my first-ever Western hunting experience. So, I did what I always do when learning something new: surround myself with talented people. The Elk 201 course gives you the tools needed to become a more successful woodsman and Hunter. It was like having Cody ride shotgun and answering my elementary elk hunting questions before I knew to ask them. Develop a system. Get closer. Experience more encounters. If you aren't using these tactics to punch your elk tag, you're doing yourself a disservice!

I put the principles from the 201 course to use this archery season and was able to get in closer than I could have imagined, within 35 yards. It gave me the confidence to move aggressively when needed and display patience when the moment came. Unfortunately the wind switched and that big old growlly 7x7 got away. I have one last weekend this season to get back in arena and punch my tag.

This is a great next-step course after getting the basics down. The 90-9-1 concept makes complete sense and allows you to apply a system that covers more ground to find the elk then slowing down and turning up the intensity when in range.

You need to invest in your elk knowledge and Cody’s classes are clear and concise. The processes he puts in place are easy to implement, make sense and work! They’ve helped me shorten my learning curve as a fourth year elk hunter.

Throughout my elk hunting journey i have experienced some amazing encounters and some of the highest of highest and lows of lows. It wasn’t until the last couple of years that i brought all of the experiences and encounters full circle. I analyzed what worked and what did not work, the whys and the how’s of what created success. For me elk hunting is a game of expectation management. As an active duty military guy i have to use my time wisely and put a plan into action. Cody says it right over and over with his Elk 201 series. You have to have a system period. For me it all starts with in-depth e-scouting. I take the past years experiences and look at where I’ve had encounters or where we have killed bulls and i apply that terrain analysis to the map and plot waypoints matching almost the exact criteria of past encounters. Secondly i do my best prior to season to confirm or deny those areas by hiking around and confirming or denying elk sign in the area. For those of us in Roosevelt country i am specifically looking for rubs and hard used trails in areas that have supporting habitat (food, water etc) if i find that sign it goes in my PACE plan. A PACE plan is defined as primary, alternate, contingency and emergency. Once i establish my pace plan of spots to hunt them when it’s time to go, i only spend a couple days in those areas max. If i am not in elk i leave and move down the pace plan. The point i am trying to drive home is exactly what Cody will coach you through and that is building a system for you. Your system will develop over time but if you go in without a plan, you will be highly disappointed. Just wanna thank Cody for the phenomenal knowledge he continues to put out.

I have done all of the well known courses they are all great but I really liked your course because you get straight to the point. Sometimes (most times) you just don’t have time to read EVERY detail in those other courses so I enjoyed the no bs approach. It didn’t take me months to complete, literally like a day of listening to it and I took in so much of the key points. And after 4 years I finally took my first archery bull! Thank you for all the help!

You want to know if this will help you kill elk. That's the only reason you're this deep into considering a 201 course. Short answer: I'm pretty sure this gives you exactly what you need on the knowledge side to get the job done every single year. The physical prep and execution is still on you. But at least you've minimized the variables for success. Longer answer: I spent a good number of years on my own in the woods chasing elk. I always found elk. Every year, almost daily. But there were parts of the puzzle missing and nobody was there to connect the dots for me. What was I missing? I was desperate to see the bigger picture. Cody has done an incredible job at succinctly connecting the dots here. Before, I felt like I was walking around in a dark room and kept slamming into furniture. Cody walked in and turned on the light switch. The content and value is that significant. Seriously, for the price of this course, you'd be crazy not to buy it and listen over and over again. Spend the money and get yourself dialed to the next level. You won't regret the investment.

I’ve taken a few elk hunting courses, read multiple books and listened to numerous podcasts. While all of these resources have been beneficial none have given me a way to be successful year after year. The elk hunt 201 course helped me create a system to find, get close to and kill elk consistently. If you’re going to spend any money this year to take your hunting skills to the next level, this course is it.
