I am a student who has taken the Drone Mapping and Modeling Fundamentals as well as the Drone Launch Academy Roofing Inspection courses. As a result of this course, I have been able to apply the fundamentals that I have learned to actual jobs, and it has provided confidence for me to do this type of work. The course instruction is very clear and easy to follow, and the instructors are very knowledgeable. I highly recommend any course that is provided through Drone Launch Academy.

I was completely new to droning, I purchased the 107 and mapping course. I learned so much from the map course alone, it was well done and the training videos were precise to each subject, They provided photos from a real project so you can practice the skills taught in the course without having to go out and fly the drone. I have been considering turning this into a part time biz and maybe full time if all goes well. once I master this I will look to get more training they offer on running a drone business.

This course was awesome. I used what was taught on a regular basis and refer back to the course frequently to refresh myself on techniques when I need to. The course was laid out in a logical order and was very easy to follow. I would highly recommend this course to anyone considering getting into the mapping arena.

I found the course to be very informative and easy to follow. I was able to better understand how to properly set up the flight plans according to the data I needed to acquire ie. camera angles, height AGL as well as how the GSD translates into accuracy parameters.

The Drone mapping course was very informational. It helped me to decide on Mapping as a Drone business. I went forward and now have my Part 107 license and started a Business. Now to get leads and find jobs! I thoroughly enjoyed being able to Map with my drone and the homework that was assigned. I took the course, "Drone Mapping and Modeling Fundamentals," in hopes to receive a comprensive understanding of photogrammetry and how it relates to my field of Land Surveying. After competing the course, I achieved a full understanding on how to collect data and processes it. I didn't use the same software, such as the "Mapping Made Easy" website, but I ended up using a free open source program called WebODM. Since Mapping Made Easy is no longer really free, I wish Drone Launch Academy would update the course with a video on how to install and use WebODM to help students get up and running. Having been in the profession of land surveying (not licensed yet) for over 5 years, I can see that photogrammetry is only beneficial to have an accurate orthomosaic high definition image overlayed on construction plans to assist with construction monitoring but is not really necessary for much of anything else. (At least, I haven't been exposed to any jobs that desire the use of photogrammetry yet.) My next step is to learn the next course regarding Lidar, which I haven't taken yet. Looking forward to it.

A great hands on detailed step by step workshop on Drone Mapping and Modeling. I would highly recommend the workshop to anyone interested in Drone Mapping.

Simply put... the two mapping courses from Drone Launch Academy, Drone Mapping and Modeling Fundamentals and Drone Mapping and Modeling Pro were the difference between me not having a clue and me being able to talk about mapping intelligently and fly multiple types of missions, producing meaningful and valuable data for clients. I think the thing I liked the most about the courses was the reinforcement you get from the end-to-end walk-thru that's provided after the teaching sections. The teaching sections are great too, and if that's all there was that would be more than enough, but the walk-thru was icing on the cake for me... loved it! It was worth every penny.

I have been doing real estate photography for almost 5 years. The business is changing and I was looking for a way to diversify. After getting my Part 107 and watching a few YouTube videos looking for what else others are doing with drones, I thought drone mapping might be a good fit for me. There are large areas of vacant land where I live and possible new construction opportunities for drone mapping or inspection or whatever. So I decided to get ahead of things and take Drone Mapping and Modeling Fundamentals course to learn as much as I could to confirm my initial feelings. After some initial hesitancy of coming on board, I must say my favorite thing is that I am learning so much more than I expected. I really appreciate how David provides such a deep level of detail that helps with painting the whole picture about this business. I didn't realize there was so much I could learn in this course. This 74 year old is having so much fun. I bought a larger drone, Mavic 3 Classic, with the hope that DJI will release the SDK so that it can be used with many of the mapping software. Since the weather has not been conducive to flying, I plan on taking the roof inspection course as well during the winter. If anyone is sitting on the fence about taking this course, I'd say jump in. Education is not a cost...it's an investment.

I recently retired from MassDOT and this course has given me the opportunity to perform part time work in the construction industry. The courses are very easy to follow and the value is very much worth it.

I think that this course is really good! This area of work will be a brand new venture but I am up for the challenge. I was a tiny bit apprehensive about getting into mapping and modeling. I want to venture out on my own (getting away from working directly for others) start my own business down the road. I have lots of construction experience and I am new to flying a drone as well but it’s not as hard (DJI Air 2S is what I just purchased). I think all the information that’s included in this training is going to help me become super successful from 2023 on. I like that Rut is in the videos and letting everyone know THE REAL side of this field and what is expected (although no 2 situations or scenarios are the same). If anyone asks down the road how I got my start and where my experience came from I will definitely let them know this was where I placed my faith to get out of the gate! This program has been and is worth every penny so far. No Fluff No BS.

The course taught me about using my drone for making maps. I learned everything that I needed to know to be able to offer mapping services to clients. The course takes you from the basics about mapping to actually making Orthomosaic Maps with your drone. When I completed the course, I was confident in my understanding of mapping and the ability to make accurate maps with my drone.

Very informative. I had actually completed drone mapping and modeling prior to taking this course. During my iniital mapping flight, I was taught how to capture a 2D and 3D model with minimal information, as in "plug in the address and fly it". After taking DLA's mapping course, now I understand how a proper map needs to be captured and the course has given me the expertise to discuss mapping and modeling as well as how to properly fly a mission and sell it to clients.

The course taught me the fundamentals of using a drone to create maps and models. It provided me with the knowledge and the know how to use my drone to create maps and models with my drone.

It was really a great course, and david helps me a lot with his information and very special tips for new stuff to learn and trying. I start the course and i have not a lot information about drone modeling. After the course i have so many information and ideas i can use it for my job

I believe this was a great first step into Drone Mapping covering the foundation. The maps made easy portion is no longer free so I used WebODM instead to process my images. I think an updated video explaining what is needed to process your images (Such as RAM requirements) and a walk through for large projects (500 pictures or more) would be nice with respect to the WebODM platform but this won't be a problem for those that buy into web-based processing. Yes, is an awesome course. The only thing I’ve been having problems with is with my other job my other passion I work in a restaurant business and he’s keeping me busy like you have no idea. I’ve been trying to save some of the days off just to study more and finish it so is my part 107 but the restaurant business has been keeping me so busy it’s a great a tool When I’m done, I will get back with you David And let you know my progress I love it is One of my ideas was in the restaurant business. I do a lot of catering Event and weddings Concerts dove hunting name And I have the idea of have one more compliment this to mixed on the drone footage for weddings, video photography here in the hill country in the restaurant business with the catering to the same time. I’m trying to put this together, but it’s been such a Challenging year that haven’t find the time and I’m talking to a couple of my employees I They are passionate about the drone industry I have on my profile 1000 flights recreational only but I need to find some time

I have been flying drones since 2015, and mapping for a while but this course thought me a lot. The sessions about analyzing and reporting were fantastic. The use of readily available inexpensive software to create professional reports was eye opening. This was always the toughest part for me, being able to put the right data in a good format for the client or boss.

I appreciate DLA's courses and content. This is a fluid business and they do a good job of creating engaging material that is useful. The Mapping Fundamentals was exactly what I was looking for to further an application idea I am working on. I am glad to be able to go back and review the material as needed: this course is a lot of work but you are taken through everything step by step. I will be doing the Advanced 3D mapping next. They provide good value for their products, in my opinion. Thank you, David.

Good afternoon. I am a 75 year old retired teacher/business owner and farmer. I enrolled in the on-line course because my philosophy has always been, “an idle mind is a wasted mind, regardless of age.” I completed the on-line course to obtain my 107 license and currently waiting on FFA to finalize my 137 certification. The on-line course was well presented and easy to follow. I currently fly a DJI Air2S shooting videos and editing on Adobe Pro, I have a DJI T20 waiting in the wings to be used in our Agricultural business. Great time, great course, go for it!

Greatly expanded my knowledge and understanding of drone mapping and modeling application and potential. The course is quite detailed but easy to follow and understand. The content from each module rolls into the next one building on each other. I really like that you can go back at any point to any module/section for a refresher. I feel it was well worth the cost and you get access for life.

I completed this course (except for the final exam) a couple of months ago. Overall I learned a lot from it and truly love that I learned how to export files to Google Earth Pro. The one thing I wish, is if we were taught a "go around" for when things don't work the way you taught them. Example- I was hired to map a small property in Monroe County, Pa. Monroe County does not allow for downloading GIS Block and Lot maps, so I was unable to prove that a building that was newly constructed on a lot, was truly within the property lines. The owner wound up having to hire an appraiser for the proof, when my map would have been more than enough for the inspector to approve the project.

The course brings you completely through the process of mapping and beginning 3D imaging with drones. It is well laid out and Rut does a great job of explaining in enough detail to not only complete the projects but to also understand why you are doing certain aspects. The in-course projects allow you to get hands on with the software you can use in your own endeavors. The course covers a wide range of topics that can be used in many industries, for many different purposes. This course was worth not only the expense, but also the time to go through it.

This course has really allowed me to learn and grow my drone business. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to get in the industry.

Course had a lot of good content. I was familiar with using MapsMadeEasy, so it was mostly a review, but I did learn a new thing with the GeoReferencing with was good to know for improving map accuracy. One thing that I would have liked to see more of is how to market and get clients for mapping. This seems to be a difficult thing, to demonstrate the value and get a client to pay for mapping services. I have tried it with a construction progress client, and they declined. I do think the course has good value for the cost relative to the content.

If you've wanted to know about using a drone for mapping, this is the course for you. I went from knowing you could use a drone for mapping to being able to confidently being able to create various types of maps and measurements. I used it to measure the amount of pasture destroyed in a grass fire at my dad's goat ranch for insurance purposes rather than guestimating. I was also able to give the acreage of his paddocks so he could know how many goats it would sustain.

Much information was provided in each section. The best part is that it is going to be available to me even after the completion of the course. I appreciated the hands-on learning experience and walkthroughs provided in the course. After completing the course, I feel prepared to execute drown mapping missions on my own.

It was more in-depth and educational than I expected. It really got into principles, science and real world use of drones for modeling and mapping. The georeferencing in maps made easy and then uploadig and interacting with google earth pro were highlights for me. We recently moved to a acreage carved out of the forest of Maine. We have 34 acres of woods and meadows, all cross-crossed by game trails and creeks. Unfortunately, there was no recent legal survey available of the land when we purchased it. Using the knowledge I’ve gained from the Mapping and Modelling course, I’ve been able to plot the property boundaries and land features, creating a beautiful and inherently useful map of our domain and all it encompasses. The knowledge and skills I’ve gained on the software side of things has been invaluable. I’ve tried to teach myself that side of the equation several times in the past and just got frustrated. The material as presented is engaging and comprehensive. I couldn’t be happier with the decision to sign up - you should too!

I just want to highly recommend the Mapping course. Like with any of the courses from Drone Launch Academy you will learn all the aspects to mapping and they teach you step by step so you understand it. Rut and David explain how each step works and they do it in a way it’s something you can offer going forward. Any courses that are offered are done so well and very understandable. The Drone Mapping Fundamentals Course is everything that I expected. It's giving me the opportunity to learn the basics of the mapping process, which will continue to enhance my drone skills. I'm about 1/3 of the way through the step-by-step instructions and am very looking forward to going out and getting my first mapping customer.

As someone new to the drone world, I would have to say that the course is very educational and the instruction was quite detailed, as well as easy to follow and understand. My only recommendation would be to include a current list of autonomous mapping software, and to which drones they are compatible with. When I started this class, the drone I had was not compatible with any of the autonomous software. I soon after bought a DJI Mini 3 Pro to which I found it very difficult to find which software was compatible as someone that is not familiar with this type of software.

The course did help. I have taken a few classes on the topic and they all hone in on their particular preferred programs, which is to be expected. All of them, including DLA’s classes, have proven to be great practice for real world work. I appreciate the effort that went into your class.
