Your interview course helped me land my second DREAM JOB! I actually have 7 years experience but it has been 5 years since my last interview. I know your books helped me get my first dream job in surgery, so when I went back to review them I found your new course. My new job offer is for my first-choice company in my first-choice location and my first-choice schedule for the salary I asked for. Not to mention other positive perks; I am in complete shock. HOW DO I SAY THANK YOU! Maybe all of that information is available somewhere in google land, but I did not have much time to prepare and your course gave me all the fine-tuning and comforting I needed, from researching facilities to understanding the purpose of the behavioral questions, to the exact wording of thank you notes. It absolutely made a difference for me.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I enjoyed how compressed this course was and goes over the important basics to start in the ICU. I would appreciate if there were drawings/ images. The language used in this course was very easy to understand. I have not started out in the ICU just yet, but if there were images on what the ventilator looks like, what the swan/ pa catheters look like, it'd be great. I understand this course is designed for a range of nursing knowledge, new grad to non-critical care experience, however, the main parts of the ICU that I feel are so different from transferring from med/surg to ICU, are the monitoring equipments, hemodynamic values, and ICU IV drips/ meds. If these sections could be focused on and expanded more, I think we would be much more prepared for the ICU.

The Master RN class helped me navigate through my 1st 6 months as a nurse who works on the ortho/med surg floor. I gained valuable insight and utilized many of the tips from the course. I recommend it to anyone who is just starting out as a new nurse. I plan to check out other courses as I feel the content is fully relatable.

Master Class has been EVERYTHING that I needed to prove that I can do this, and I deserve to be the great nurse that I know I can be (and realizing that I can give myself grace for my learning curve). Now, six months into my role as an acute rehabilitation nurse, having floated many times to med-surg, spine, and the ortho departments, I am well on my way and path of my dream nursing position. Fine-tuning my desire to search out my dream job (where ever this leads me) as an acute care hospital nurse. Not just this but, I feel as though I have great co-worker friends who absolutely love working with me, management that sees potential in me and most importantly, I have my confidence to traverse this next phase of my dream career. Thank you so very much FreshRN for being a HUGE part of my success!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Starting in the ICU was a terrifying step for me. I had always wanted to work in the ICU but the concepts and skills around that were very scary for me. This course helped to soften the blow of the complexity of the ICU environment, helped me learn to be compassionate towards myself and reminded me that it's okay to not know things. I cannot recommend this course enough, not just for new graduates but nurses at all ages and stages moving into the ICU for the first time.

Just finished "Nursing Report Basics." Even as a seasoned nurse, I love these review courses from Kati's perspective--I always pick up something new that I can use. I also appreciate these courses to use with any preceptees and nursing students; it's nice to be reminded of things that newer nurses may be particularly concerned about and that we can help them with.

[CARDIAC CONFIDENCE] I have been a nurse for 25 years. I took this course just for fun and I loved it. I only regret that it was not around when I was a new nurse. All nursing schools would be so much better if they incorporated your course! You hit the nail on the head for nurse training. Very clear explanations and invaluable tips. There is no comparison to learning from the best and I believe the two of you eliminated a lot of blood, sweat and tears for all your followers. It was so much better than the other courses I have taken and I even got CEU's. I am very thankful you are leading nurses.

I took your cardiac crash course and loved the content. I noticed recently that it’s now in audio files, too, so I can listen to it. I love this. I had my preceptorship last spring in Tele and having your course helped me to feel confident and more prepared (knowing what was important, what to look out for, how to talk to doctors, etc). I also took your resume and interview course and used your template for my resume (and got the job!) I listened to your podcasts about interviews and about new nurses and what makes a great new grad. All of them brought me a sense of confidence in myself, which was so needed. I love the cut-to-the-core realness that you bring. You cover what matters in a genuine way that’s easy to connect with. Love your content! Thank you!

Nursing Skills Refresh - worth your time! After a long winter break I realized I was getting nervous about jumping back into clinicals. Although geared for the new nursing student, as a 4th semester student I still found it incredibly helpful. The videos are in nice, manageable chunks, and it's like getting the inside scoop from your big sisters.

I went throught the Hired course and wasn't sure at first if it would help. I'm more of a mediocre job interviewee mainly due to nerves during the interview process. I can say without a doubt that this course helped me become more confident during the interview process. I felt like I was more professional as well as able to show them who I am as a nurse during the interview and while job shadowing. Be sure to follow through with a thank you email! My grandpa also told me "the squeaky wheel gets the oil" but I never knew how to do that without looking like I was annoying. This course helped show how while being professional!

[PRECEPTOR PRO] I audited this course for my ICU, I plan to share my learnings with our preceptor staff. I'd like to see us improve our training process especially as it relates to the soft skills Kati covers such as time management, delegation, building rapport, giving and receiving feedback. Our unit educator and corporate training program covers the technical skills, but I am happy to find a resource to help us standardize our process with these more subjective skills.

This course was amazing and really helped me understand my post-stroke patients better! I work in a critical care step-down unit and we see many conscious stroke patients. Before taking this course, I was unaware that peak swelling after an ischemic stroke is day 3. Now I have a better understanding of what to expect from my conscious post-stroke patients as well as what an abnormal neuro assessment looks like!

[MED-SURG MINDSET] I found the course very helpful to my newbie nurse practice especially after losing time in clinical from COVID during school. My orientation was very quick paced and having the time away from patient care to properly digest and review important material was key to developing my confidence and skills. The emotional support and normalizing of how stressful those early months can feel was good for me to have a realistic perspective on where I should be, and to not hold myself to crazy standards. Being able to take that deeper dive and have a better understanding of the types of patients I may care for, and how to organize myself was invaluable. Thank you!

Thank you FreshRN authors and contributors for your genuine encouragement and guidance. You made a real difference in my nursing career and personal life.

I definitely feel better about starting my new job on an ortho floor after some years of not working in a hospital setting. It was just the right amount of information.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Thank you so much for this course!! This course turned an avalanche of information, that I would have had to look for myself in multiples sources, into a small hill of information that I was able to clearly understand. It was very straight forward and anticipated my needs for a new ICU nurse. It allowed me to ask questions, and brought me so much clarity when it came to working day-to-day at a hospital. Every nurse has their own understanding of each of these concepts which I respect, but with so many different takes and their voice having no reference or source, I was looking for a solid foundation I could refer back to and look deeper into, and this course provided just that. I feel so much more confident. I really appreciated the segment about our emotional well-being because I neglected this for so long, before even going to the ICU and it cut my ICU adventure short because of burn out. I look forward to using this new perspective to go back to the ICU and share with other nurses.

[ICU DRIPS FOR BEGINNERS] I have been helped with condensing ICU knowledge. I have only yet completed the titratable drips course but, the way it was presented has helped me feel more confident and given me a good resource to return back to. So much ICU knowledge is hard to Google and get a clear answer, and it certainly isn't taught directly in nursing school because it is a specialty. I'm glad I have something to help me get the basics and teach me at my level.

I purchased “telemetry brush up,” and this really helped me break down multiple subjects one at a time. As I just graduated and was hired for telemetry, I was apprehensive but figured this was just another test I have to nail. FreshRN really helped me grasp an overview of the basic info, addressed common fears I had (I’ll never be good enough, what if I don’t understand what I’m doing? Etc) and reminded me along the way, it’s ok and to focus on ‘X’ before diving into ‘Y’. Will be purchasing other products in the near future. I’m glad to have found you on YouTube.

I would 100% recommend Breakthrough ICU. It targets especially new nurses coming into the ICU. Ashley and Kati address all the important concepts to know as a new nurse in the ICU. You don't feel like your head is going to explode because the information is presented in a way that is concise and only what you should REALLY know as a new nurse is addressed! They talk also about soft skills, self compassion. They really help you prepare mentally for what is ahead!

I'm 4 weeks off of orientation in the ED and had my first experience with Afib with RVR a couple nights ago. It was chaotic for me because I didn't fully grasp what was happening. I knew it was an extremely urgent matter, but I had little understanding about the pathophysiology of Afib with RVR and the treatments to be ordered. This mini course really opened my eyes to the WHY it's urgent. Kati breaks down a complex topic into an easy to understand analogy, which I'm certain I'm going to be able to retain. I'm slightly more confident how that I'll be able to go into my next Afib with RVR with a little more ease. THANK YOU!

I'm a RN on a surgical ICU step-down unit with about 1.5 years of experience. During nursing school I precepted in CVICU and was a nurse apprentice in CCU. My experience in those units gave me a great introduction to managing all of the different drips, but this course was a great, succinct resource for a quick "introductory refresher."

I really appreciated the personal anecdotes and recommendations on substance use disorder, discharge planning for complex cases (ie., patients without an address), and end of life care, especially because these topics were not thoroughly reviewed or taught in nursing school. You provided real world experiences as bedside nurses that provided more context into what med-surg nursing is all about. The whole course was thorough and I learned new things that I will definitely apply in my nursing practice. The end of life care really hit home for me, especially because I have had several comfort care patients and my grandfather is currently on hospice. I wish I had completed this course before my first year as a med-surg nurse. Overall, I feel more prepared in having completed this course. Thank you so much for creating this website and developing these courses so thoughtfully. I am so grateful!

[NEURO WISE] Most recently, I was able to detect a pupillary change in my patient that was likely related to over-sedation. Nonetheless, I escalated care, advocating for my patient and clarifying the patient’s actual RASS score as compared to what had been documented. Understanding the importance of obtaining an accurate baseline neurological assessment empowers me to communicate all findings to the team. All of the FreshRN courses are helpful and encouraging. Kati Kleber and her colleagues share must know information that may be otherwise challenging to learn during orientation. You can also go back to the lessons at any time to review course content, and preparation is ultimately the key to becoming a competent and safe nurse.

I just wanted to take a moment and write to you that I am really enjoying the A fib email course. I have been an RN for just over two years and started my career on a tele unit. Due to the COVID pandemic, our unit has seen an increase in med surg overflow patients and the result has been less emphasis on cardiac centered education for new grads. Your paid courses and email courses have been so helpful to me in filling those educational gaps. I love how you can break the topic down into manageable pieces and cut straight to the most ‘need to know’ information to take care of patients. I’m not much of a basketball person, but your analogy of the cardiac electrical pathway was so spot on. I’m planning on using it when precepting new grads. Personally, it has been helpful to work through the given situation (like when a patient flips into A Fib RVR) prior to it happening in real life and has made me feel more prepared to handle the situation when it happens on the unit. Thank you so much for doing what you do to help nursing students and RNs alike. I appreciate you.

Hi Kati! I took the Nursing Report Basics course and I absolutely loved it. It helped me understand what the purpose of report actually is and what you should be focusing on when giving report. As a new grad nurse finding out what you should be focusing on when giving report makes it so much easier. Knowing what to focus on also makes it smoother when giving report to the oncoming nurse. I love how you have a video and you also sum up the points for the video because I am a visual and auditory learner. I also wanted to thank you for a course that is free and specifically for new grad nurses.

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] At first I wanted all of the content at once, but I ended up loving the weekly drop because it gave me time to fully understand and comprehend some of the more difficult topics for me. The disease process was the most intriguing because I loved the 3D interactions getting down to the path of the process. I know some people were commenting on it being basic; I don't mind because unit, processes, and medications expectations are different. I would like more in the ABG section and some interventions to expect. I love the report sections because it gave me time to make a report sheet and practice taking report and give me an idea on what to expect and ask. Overall I appreciate the hard work and will be referring back to this information.

[CARDIAC CONFIDENCE] I am so glad the updated version includes some IV introductions because in school they didn't really teach me much on IV. To have a professional talk me through and explain the whole process so cohesively is so helpful. [NEURO WISE] I enrolled in this course to help me be more prepared for my new job in the neuro ICU. Although I don’t start until December, I have already had some success! I currently work in the neuro step-down unit. I noticed my patient was still on IVP Dilantin after about 5 days with no history of seizures. I remembered the course said you have a potential risk for seizures if your stroke is in the temporal lobe, but his was in the cerebellum. I brought it up to the CRNP that night and she was appalled that he was getting IVP for no good reason due to its harshness on the veins. She changed it to PO and asked me to follow up with the neurologist in the morning to see if he still wants to continue it. It made me feel really smart and like I did something really awesome for my patient! :) I plan to work on the course some more today, thank you so much for this opportunity!

I have taken MedSurg Mindset and breakthrough ICU (still halfway through the course). Great for newer nurses who want a head-start, and know what the ideal workflow is like. Courses cover nursing assessment, report, telemetry basics. ICU course covers ventilators, sepsis, and more! Highly recommended.

Kati, I am 1 year into my nursing career on a Med-Surg Tele unit and your courses have been a God-send. Your courses have given me so much confidence. Watching your videos feels like "kicking back with a friend." I love your laid-back teaching style and the way you deliver information. I understand A-fib more than ever now that you compared the AV node to a bouncer, and electrical impulses like drunk people trying to force their way into a club. You catered to my visual-learner heart! I will continue to listen to your podast and recommend it and your courses to everyone I work with. :) Thank you for all that you do!! -Madi

[CHARGE NURSE JUMP START] Last week I had to debrief a pt's nurse and tech after a preventable fall. The guidance in the Managing Personalities chapter had given me some preparation for working through the situation with them in a direct, non-confrontational way despite anticipated push back and blame shifting. I feel it was particularly noteworthy because they have very different personalities, especially in response to negative events. Together we were able to come up with several alternate actions that could have been taken to prevent that fall that could be carried forward to other patients.

When I was in nursing school, I would occasionally be paired with the preceptor whom the manager would call her "#1 coach" (and she was fantastic), and I remember thinking, I want to be like that preceptor someday... Well, if you've had similar thoughts, this is a wonderful resource for you! I've been wanting to be a preceptor ever since nursing school, and this course is exactly what I was looking for to help improve my confidence and prepare for this role. I would definitely recommend this course if teaching is a passion and you want to be a "#1 coach!"

I earned my CMSRN because I felt like I was stagnating in my specialized field of the elective post-op ortho world. However, despite passing that certification exam (and for some reason this class is advertised as *not* being a prep course for cert exams, but it *totally* would have helped!), I felt like I had just memorized ideas & facts for it, and I knew I'd forget much of the material afterward. However, working my way through the Med-Surg Mindset course afterward really help me better conceptualize and internalize what I had studied previously, and I was able to float to med-surg units with much less anxiety than I had in the past.

As a nurse with little experience with neuro and critical patient, I believe her neuro crash course and her ICU crash course has helped prepare me for this transition!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Most importantly I want to say thank you so much for your courses, I'm a new grad Surgical ICU nurse and having the info readily available for me to review at home is SO helpful. I also appreciate how well you break the concepts down, it really helps me build a bit of a structure in my head for the different diseases and devices I'm learning to use. The stuff about confidence and being okay with making mistakes is something I really struggle with so the first section was exactly what I needed, too. This course has been such an incredible resource for me, I've been on my own for about 4 months now and having this to look back to for review has been so helpful.

[CARDIAC CONFIDENCE] This course was amazing for a new grad who is about to be on a cardiac post-intervention unit. You are very encouraging and made me realize that I CAN do this, no matter how many butterflies I have in my stomach. I've had 5.5 months since nursing school so I definitely needed a refresher. There were some typos or things that could have been worded in a way to better understand it. For example, in the sheath section when talking about sizes (Fr), you mentioned sizes for groin access and for arterial access. I just was confused, thinking it meant to explain sizes for venous and for arterial access since the groin could be venous or arterial OR it was talking about groin access and radial access. Just things like this! Thank you Kati for all the work you've put into this.

I recently took your Breakthrough ICU course on FreshRN. I am not actually in the ICU yet, I currently work on a neuroscience med surg unit. However, my hospital is in the process of building a neuro trauma ICU and I am one of the leaders helping with the transition, so I needed some ICU background. Anyway, I took notes and plan to go back and re-listen to some lectures. It was extremely helpful to have access to ICU information without actually having that background yet. The objective information was helpful (meds, equipment, etc), but I also loved the emotional support and self compassion incorporated into each module. It made me think differently about how I will orient new nurses on my unit. Thanks for that. I definitely plan on taking a neuro course if you have one. Thanks for all the content!

The objective information was helpful (meds, equipment, etc), but I also loved the emotional support and self compassion incorporated into each module. It made me think differently about how I will orient new nurses on my unit. Thanks for that. I definitely plan on taking a neuro course if you have one. Thanks for all the content!

After searching the internet feverishly for a comprehensive course to meet my needs as an ICU nurse (I've been away from the bedside for 2 years), I finally found what I desperately needed in the ICU breakthrough and Cardiac course. These courses are pure gold! The course is prepared by experienced ICU nurses with advanced degrees and a wealth of experience! They way the courses are taught with real life experiences and no fluff gave me exactly what I needed. I feel like I have caring preceptors on call all the time. Thank you FRESH RN for the boost of confidence and the refreshment that I needed to be a successful, knowledgeable, and safe ICU nurse!

I really got a lot out of your stuff about giving report to the nitpicking nurse. I've been a nurse for six months and I've been working four shifts a week. The job is hard and I'm learning every shift but I've found the stuff I take home with me is not the rapid response or code but a nasty nurse at shift change. Just two days ago on my fifth shift in six days I had to wait forty-five minutes to give report only to have the nurse ask me things like "How does she take her pills?" I would have told you if they needed to be crushed in apple sauce or one at a time. I was hot. Your video was very helpful and I'll implement some of it moving forward. Thanks.

As a brand new baby ICU nurse I have been working through your breakthrough ICU course. And not only has it expanded my knowledge but it helped me feel less alone and less scared. New grad nursing is such a scary experience but having a community of knowledge and others feeling the same way has helped me be more confident and ready for the day. You’ve helped me very much and I believe you will continue to help me as I continue this journey. Thank you.

As a new grad, your Nursing Report Basics helped me realize something I do inadvertently, giving report in a manner that is almost seeking of permission, timid, mousey shy manner, when I am full aware that I got this. It helped call my attention to the tone I should be using when doing TOA, and being confident with how to handle situations with nit-picky nurses.

I have always been a little hesitant of cardiac because it did not make sense but taking a job as a CVICU nurse I'm not going to be able to avoid cardiac so I decided to actually figure out why it never really made sense to me. Now it makes A LOT more sense and I am positive I will be able to give better care to my patients.

Nursing Report Basics helped to confirm the things I was doing right and gave me ideas on how to be better. Now it doesn't phase me at all and I know how to prepare myself for nurses who are condescending like that.

[MED-SURG MINDSET] I absolutely loved it, it is a long story but in short, this literally changed my nursing life and myself. I am a baby nurse who is about to start working as a nurse in 2 weeks! I used this course for like 3 weeks to 1 month and I absolutely loved it. What's special about this course, is that it's touching and very educational. I was not ready at all even though I passed with 75 questions on the NCLEX; I can surely say this course prepared me to be a successful nurse (maybe more than my school...). It literally runs through from A (once you wake up to get ready for the shift=mindset) to Z (sign off and report to next shift nurse). The details that this course contains is AMAZING, it touches on everything (it is the perfect course for future perfect nurses). Honestly, I don't feel I am alone in this journey and have Katie in the background talking and encouraging me when I am down. I really really loved your course so much and am definitely looking forward to trying other courses. This course got your back!

Your course is just the right amount of detailed. I also listened to your podcast about interviews before getting my job and didn’t even realize you also made the course until after I purchased it! Thank you for all the time you put into helping nurses. 😊

The content is so helpful to new grad nurses, especially those going into critical care or the ICU. They will feel supported and feel like they are a little more confident going into a shift. Thank you for all you are doing to support new nurses. Your content is not fluffy, it’s straightforward and the closest to the reality of nursing. In school they always talk about being assertive, but then do not have practical solutions or “how to's”. I think you do a great job in going through the processes and what to actually say to be assertive. I appreciate you!

[ECG RHYTHM MASTER] I enjoyed how well the course explained the physiology of the heart beat in relation to what is being seen on the monitor (the EKG strip). I also appreciated the author comparing similar rhythms and explaining the key differences between them. The material was clear and concise without having too much information to sift through. I enjoyed the clinical significance of each rhythm and the explanations regarding the medications used to treat some of the unwanted rhythms.

Part of my plan is to go back in bedside nursing and step out also in my comfort zone in dialysis and this course is really helpful and gave me a glimpse on what to do if ill be hired in the MedSurg unit. Dealing with rude staffs, Stay on the ground and do not internalize are the things that impacted me since knowing my personality that I tend to be affected if I'm being questioned with people showing condescending behavior. It will actually sometimes faze my performance sometimes. I really appreciate staffs who are very willing to teach newbies like me.

I recently was asked by a patient's daughter to explain her mom's sepsis. I've always been confused by the topic, but I had just listened to the Med-Surg Mindset course on sepsis. I felt confident in giving a specific, yet patient friendly response. She told me that after talking to other nurses and doctors, it was the first response that made sense to her. In fact, she was so grateful that she told the charge nurse, and gave me a present when her mom was discharged.

I was not disappointed in the least working through the invaluable material presented. Since finishing, I feel much more confident as a great nurse and know when and how to give myself grace and to utilize my resources and newfound knowledge to keep my patients safe feeling well cared for, staying emotionally balanced with self-care, to support and be emotionally balance working with all co-workers and health professionals. Lastly, I have an even greater drive to learn more from FreshRN to continue on my journey.

Holy crap Ashley! Your ICU course is saving my life right now! I just had my first three shifts in the ICU with a patient post open-heart. She ended up having an ischemic bowel and had a bowel resection so I saw the crazy labs that show metabolic acidosis and she was put on CRRT for a while due to her kidneys shutting down post-op. She was put back on a vent after her bowel resection so I got to see all of those settings and she was also on several drips throughout the whole weekend. Everything is starting to come together with your course and I just wanted to let you know how amazing it is and how appreciated you are! And Kati as well!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] Hi ladies overall great content! I really enjoyed the latter half of this course, the first few episodes were like another member said, not really for me (although my previous experience is as a tech and not a nurse). I really appreciated that portion being "dripped" down to us and enjoyed the way you explained it. I know you all are really busy and may not get a chance to listen to the voiceovers, but some of them came out a bit choppy with inconsistent volume. Perhaps a different mic could help make the volume more consistent?

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I had been recommending this course and your free content on my unit for WEEKS. Nobody seemed super interested. I left out a copy of your ICU drip chart at my nurses station one shift… lo and behold I suddenly noticed photocopies of it at the other nurse stations, taped to other more experienced RNs' clipboards. It even showed up in my 'helpful references file' from our unit educator… funny thing. After that, I had a few nurses approach me to ask about this course, saying that our manager suggested they ask me about it. I raved, of course!!

[ORTHO STRONG] I really liked that they didn't unnecessarily explain complex surgical terms or surgery details and instead just highlighted the big takeaways and key points that the nurse would need to know. I also really liked how relevant to floor nursing the course was and they mentioned helpful tips for having a successful shift like coordinating with PT/OT about pain medication.

[CARDIAC CONFIDENCE] Thank you for the contents. I have been a nurse for 7 years and I learned sooo much valuable information on this site that I feel like I should have known because its pertinent information for safe patient care. So much information is thrown at you in such a short amount of time that there is no way to retain a majority of it. That is what I love and fear about the medical field is that there is sooo much to learn every day (love) and because health care and its practices are ever changing, it is a momentous task to keep up with all the new data, safe practices, medications, side effects, new diseases and treatments etc... So courses like this are soo nice as a condensed refresher of general knowledge that should be accumulated in cardiac or ICU specific fields. I always want to know EVERYTHING about everything so I think I sabotage my limited memory capacity to retain info pertinent in the field. So I feel the info given here gave just the right amount to understand the mechanism of actions or the need to know details, to retain the knowledge and put it into practice. Thanks again for the refresher. I made some notes and put them in an easy to reference folder.

[CARDIAC CONFIDENCE] In the weeks leading up to my first bedside job, I was very excited, but also nervous about the steep learning curve and how few practice hours on the floor I had gotten in schools. FreshRN kept me feeling excited about this new chapter in my learning and my career, and gave me both the skills that I needed as a trainee and as a new nurse, as well as the confidence that I could and would be able to do the job. I highly recommend!

ICU Drips for Beginners was a great introductory course to learning about the common drips used in the ICU. I appreciate that rationale of why it may be necessary to administer some of these meds utilizing central vascular access and the tips that go along with handling the responsibility using them. What's most beneficial to this course are the bonus material that will definitely be of use to me on the floor. I am new to the ICU and I am grateful that I have found such a "Fresh" resource that keeps learning an enjoyable experience.

I took the mini course and I think it was really helpful! I am not a new grad but I have worked in administrative nursing roles for many years and am transitioning to bedside nursing and have much to re-learn. I found these tips to be realistic and supportive with just the right amount of tips for how to jump this "new" hurdle. I have been practicing giving report and most have gone fine but there were a few that were disorganized and annoying even to me.....so when the oncoming nurse was snarky, it did make me feel very insecure. This mini course has a couple great tips for those situations and I appreciated them. I will seek more of these classes to support myself in this transition. Thanks!

[ECG RHYTHM MASTER] This course was incredibly informative and the resources are so easy to use and reference again and again. The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that I had to stop the videos multiple times and go back because the pace of the presentation was SO fast. [ECG RHYTHM MASTER] This course was incredibly informative and the resources are so easy to use and reference again and again. The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that I had to stop the videos multiple times and go back because the pace of the presentation was SO fast. It's hard to process such dense information at such a fast pace. But overall, very helpful. Thank you.

Hi Kati! I am a new grad and discovered your podcast just as I was graduating. THANK YOU for creating content that is so specific for new grads! This is such a hard transition and your podcast and Cardiac Crash Course have helped me so much in my transition to a PCU residency. I’m hoping to also purchase the residency course when it’s next on sale (still feeling like a poor nursing student lol). Just wanted to let you know you’ve made a difference in my journey as a baby nurse and I so appreciate you! 💕

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I've only completed weeks 1 and 2. The concept of a human moment, being real with my co workers, the exercises on report, and the self compassion break concept have been very helpful. The other night I was pulled from orientation one day early and given a 19yo female, detoxing, in DKA, with multiple accesses, constant diarrhea, and a fem line (and my other pt was Covid with a HR of 30-40, refusing a drip and a full code). I would have lost it if I didn't take a moment and acknowledge that I was in a stressful moment and that it was human of me to be there.

[CARDIAC CONFIDENCE] This is a great course to reinforce and enhance what you learned in nursing school and prepare you for actual nursing. I'm waiting for my orientation to start so this is helping to give me something to do, make me feel better prepared, and enhance my skills. I really appreciate the spots where the course says "here's when you call the provider." I feel like this may be something I'm not sure when to do as a new nurse.

I am a seasoned nurse in many areas of nursing but have never worked on a cardiac specific floor. I stumbled upon FreshRN and decided to try out the Cardiac Confidence course. This helped me quickly gain knowledge and confidence in caring for my cardiac patients in addition to being able to explain meds/procedures to patients/family members in a way that they could understand. Highly recommend.

[PRECEPTOR PRO] I appreciated the 'hands on' suggestions for how to handle being a preceptor. Also the description of where the orientee is in their growth as the fledgling new nurse in the world of nursing or new department. I loved the real to life examples. I very much appreciate the paperwork part of the course. I will use these to help in my work as I try to teach new preceptors to be successful in their responsibilities.

In med-surg, there is such a variety of patients and varying reasons that they are in the hospital. It is not possible to know it all, but this course gives me a foundation for SO many diagnosis and treatment plans. I don't feel lost, they way I did before this course!

It's been such a confidence booster for me right off of orientation - I am so thankful for the work you do for all us baby nurses!! It is 150% worth it - I've told every single new grad on my unit about it since I was hired!

[MED-SURG MINDSET] Hannah's task list is a game changer. I just got a new job as a medsurg nurse in an LTAC. I am usually doing well at the start of the shift, but I tend to lose track of the things I needed to do in the afternoon around lunch time, and long after all the scheduled morning medications have already been given to my patients. After I made some modifications to the task list to specifically address the routine tasks I have on the floor where I currently work, the form certainly helped take off the pressure I often felt prior to discovering this very effective and handy tool. I truly appreciate this section, and I am also fully grateful that I purchased the full dose program. Every course is worth so much more than what I paid for. Thank you so much!

[NEW NURSE MASTER CLASS] I'm entering the bedside setting for the first time after a year of post-grad service. It's so true that refresher courses are varied and never all in one place. Some refresher courses are strictly theory material that might be helpful indirectly in the practice, but not the boiled down basics needed as a new grad RN. Others provide 'birds eye' view advice like "taking care of yourself" or "meal prep" without any tools to do so practically. You have combined all the resources I needed in easing my transition back into healthcare, and for that, I am so grateful!

Katie keeps things pertinent and simple. I really appreciate the explanations, as I always like to know the "why" behind, pretty much everything! Thank you for being a Nurse Educator who really cares about helping new nurses.

Yes x1000 you have helped me! I did your cardiac crash course when I first started on a cardiac stepdown unit about a year and a half ago. I was actually severely bullied by my preceptor to the point of almost quitting nursing all together. Your course and podcasts helped me gain confidence with knowledge I wasn’t getting that I should have during orientation, and ultimately made me realize I would be oriented only once and needed to stand up for myself. I continued to listen to your podcasts all during my first year of nursing. I loved the “when to call a rapid response” and “I know what I’m doing, now what”. Don’t ever stop doing what you’re doing! Skinny jeans and side parts will always be relevant! Your experience, insight, and wisdom is so valuable. Thank you for sharing some of it with me!!

[NEURO WISE] Fantastic course!! I'm grateful to have this content for continued reference! I would definitely recommend it to all new neuro nurses and those in other specialties who wish to have a deeper understanding of the neuro realm! The modules were concise but very informative! I love the explanations of the pathologies and the assessment information with examples! I will definitely be able to take this knowledge to the bedside to help me become a more proficient neuro nurse! Assessment videos were very helpful! I work on a neuro med-surg unit, so most of the modules were applicable for providing either refreshers or an increase in understanding on relevant topics. (Some content was more for ICU but it is still great to know about, and maybe someday I'll venture to that specialty!)

[ECG RHYTHM MASTER] I ‘thought’ I felt confident with a basic ECG and pretty ‘ok’ with straight-forward Afib and most likely would recognize a STEMI, especially after the tech read, then I can really see it! I was not as confident as I thought and definitely lacked interpretation-ability when it came to the slightest variant. After the course, which I went through a couple times by choice, I feel a truly earned confidence. Just. Do it. Go. For. It! You will NOT be sorry. Aside from the rhythm practice, the explanations and memory-tools are well worth it, alone.

I finished my first week at the orientation on the Med/Surge unit, and I felt like I was all over the place. It is hard for me to catch up on things as senior nurses do everything fast and automatically; they do not go deep into explaining what they just did or why. I feel like they expect you to know it already. But I cannot know everything; that is my first nursing job, and all of my clinicals were online through vSim and Shadow Health due to COVID. You cannot learn from that?! I am grateful I found "FreshRN." That is exactly what I needed. I admire how Kati Kleber explains stuff easily and understandably in a friendly manner. I just finished the Nursing Report Basics and I am about to dig into the Med-Surge course. Thank you for everything you do for new nurses.

[NURSING REPORT BASICS & TELEMETRY BASICS] I am an RN with years of experience in Skilled Nursing Facilities and Community-Based Case Management. I hope to eventually work in acute care but I needed a "refresher course" as it's been years since my last clinical rotation at a med-surg/cardiac unit. Having worked as a registry nurse many moons ago, I understand that the shift reporting in my current long-term care environment typically focuses on different aspects of patient care compared to that of a hospital setting. Because of this, I cannot fully express how grateful I am to have recently encountered the Fresh RN podcast, and being able to access Kati's valuable knowledge and perspectives, including her "Nursing Report Basics" and Telemetry programs. They have given me a renewed sense of wellness and positive outlook. Kati is such a great communicator and motivational influence. I intend to enroll in at least one of her nursing package courses soon.

[CARDIAC CONFIDENCE] Great course! For the visual learners, it would be so helpful to maybe have a few more photos/video links, particularly when discussing equipment such as the Impella and IABP, or pacemakers. Photos of what exactly the RN would have his/her hands on, etc. Otherwise this was perfect - it made certain things that I've unquestioningly done/communicated in report many times "click" and gave me a greater conceptual and big picture understanding. Thanks again.

This course was refreshing. I loved the practical tips and sample scripts for certain common scenarios. I find myself naturally implementing them. For example, Kati’s advice on staying out of the gossip culture is to be very boring to gossip to, but fun and interesting in conversation otherwise. I have tried this-it works!

[BREAKTHROUGH ICU] I'm a recent RN graduate. I have NOT obtained a job yet in ICU, but I purchased the course to have some advanced knowledge as to what to expect. I'm a very proactive person, and I believe this coarse should be purchased before entering into a ICU position. Also study this information everyday like your studying for a nursing exam. At the beginning of my day I always did a mock nursing report with CC. DX. TX Plan. followed by Head to Toe assessment and Patient Goal for that day. Before bed, I study Central Line and Arterial Line, and Nursing Considerations. My philosophy is 'Be proactive and always anticipate the worst'. That way your patient has a good chance for survival.

Using your HIRED course as a guide, I crafted a resume and cover letter and was promptly invited to an interview. I was expecting a one-on-one interview with the manager, but it was a panel interview with four people from the ICU. I'm so glad I listened to your podcasts and went through the "HIRED" behavioral interview questions - I was super nervous, but also felt very well prepared. And clearly, it was an effective process because I got a call the NEXT day that they were offering me an ICU position in their new grad program!

I just finished the Critical Thinking for Nurses course, and I would highly recommend it to any new nurse and nursing students. I am a student in my last semester, and I wish I had taken this course in my first semester. It would have clarified a lot of questions and unknowns for clinical rotations and likely would have lessened my anxiety and fear. I purchased this as a packaged deal with her cardiac course (will do next) & initially didn't think I would learn much in the critical thinking course, but I was dead wrong. This course improved my mindset on many issues. And I feel more relaxed & confident going into my next clinical rotation. You also learn the pitfalls when assumptions are made instead of taking the time to properly use your critical thinking skills - valuable lessons. Great time-management tips as well!

I just completed the Preceptor Pro course and it is helping me greatly. I've been a nurse for only 2 years and I wasn't sure if I should be the one precepting our new hire despite management telling me that I was ready. I wanted her to be successful but felt I was still learning myself. We are about 4 weeks into orientation and she is doing very well. I read the blogs and remembered all the tips and advice from this course and it helped me map out a plan for her each week. I learned the appropriate ways to communicate with the orientee and it gave me more confidence in myself as her teacher. She has previous work experience on the mother and baby floor and she was seeking a new experience to learn more skills so she joined me in the orthopedic unit. Thank you for all the guidance Katy!

I had a patient with history of AFIB and she was admitted in my unit. In less than an hour, I saw her heart rate go up from 70-80 to 130s, 160's and 172! I notified my preceptor and we contacted the hospitalist. We got orders for STAT EKG and amiodarone bolus and maintenance dose. Thank you Kati Kleber and team for the refresher and review!

The course I took was "Hired". This course work was helpful, yes, I've been a nurse for 15 years, but, it's still incredibly intimidating to go before a panel interview for the job you wanted 15 years ago and just had a hard time getting there due to family constraints, bullying enviroments, etc. I think the best thing about this course was that I came prepared. I already had my questions written down and I could focus even though I was so nervous (nervous because this was for a surgical nurse training program). I got the job! I will start in the PONI program (Perioperative Nurse training program) on March 3 at Swedish Medical Center in Denver, CO.

[NEW NURSE MASTER CLASS] I appreciated the well rounded nature of the course- from nursing skills, etc. to self care and sleeping. I also really appreciated including other members of the care team and what they do, and how to be respectful (cool vs. not cool- nurses are notoriously NOT cool to environmental services, thanks for mentioning our hard working co-workers.) I really enjoyed the section on providers and the interviews with APP and PT. The structure of the hospital is hard to understand, this course really helped. The communication tips are excellent and very helpful. This course lays out "a day in the life" of what a real nursing shift in a hospital looks like, which helps me feel significantly less lost as a new nurse new to hospital care. The time management, patient flow etc., are super helpful and practical. Including specific examples (like the patient who refuses therapy and meals, or the ICU nurse who copies previous documentation) help make the concepts you teach tangible, and I personally can better retain information that is attached to a story. Great course, thank you.

[NEW NURSE MASTER CLASS] Hi Kati, I thank God that I found you and the help and encouragement you offer. This was truly an answer to prayer for me! I am learning so much in this course so far, and it has been worth every penny. The breathing techniques have been extremely helpful. I am a little over 2 months into my orientation as a new graduate nurse. Due to covid, I literally had only virtual clinicals and no internship. I was hired in a small rural hospital with only 20 beds on the med/surg unit. I was so full of anxiety, and I wanted so desperately to please everyone around me. I LOVE that you start the course talking about the mental aspects. It is so helpful to know that I'm not alone in the feelings and emotions. It is so hard working through those! The lack of clinical experience has made the experience even more challenging, but my 2 preceptors have been so helpful and gracious with me, and my manager has extended my orientation to 4 months. With your course and the help of my preceptors, I have started to really progress. My biggest struggles right now are admitting patients and starting IVs successfully. I am so grateful to you that you have so selflessly shared your own struggles and mistakes to help me and many new nurses. Thank you so much for your kindness! ~ Theresa

[MED-SURG MINDSET & TELEMETRY BASICS] Tomorrow I begin a new position on a MS Tele floor. I have been a nurse for quite a few years, but due to some pretty crazy things I have only worked in a clinic (triage phone nurse, minimal direct patient care) and a year in a county jail (my best job thus far!!) I am lacking in detailed clinical skills that I learned many years ago in nursing school, so in addition to the tele course I am enrolled in the med-surg mindset, and am so thankful for it! This telemetry basics brush-up gives me great ideas of questions to ask my new preceptor, and a beautiful introduction to the world of telemetry that I am walking into. Instead of being overwhelmed by the monitors and questions I will have, I am grateful for a frame of reference and foundational understanding of the reason for their monitors, what kinds of things I will want to keep track of and chart for the purpose of communication with the providers, etc. I am grateful and, if/when I reach my dream of being an ICU nurse (specifically neurocritical care d/t a severe TBI I sustained in 2012!!) I will be enrolling in further courses from Fresh RN! I am so thankful for this resource!

The New Nurse Grad Toolkit course is an outstanding resource for new nurses entering the field. It provides a well-rounded foundation with practical guidance on time management, prioritization, communication, and patient care. The interactive modules and real-world case studies make the content engaging and easy to apply in clinical settings. I especially appreciated the tips from experienced mentors, which offered valuable insights into navigating the challenges of nursing. This course has helped me build confidence, improve my critical thinking, and feel more prepared to provide high-quality care. I highly recommend it to any new grad looking to start their career on the right foot! Incredibly helpful!

So glad I found your Afib w/ rvr email lessons! I don’t remember ever learning about this in school but it’s so common in the icu!! I’ve had two pts with it just a day ago! I’ve gotten much better at appropriately freaking out/and not the more I see it. One guy was in stable vtach for 2 hours!!! That was new. But I saw it coming. Communicated when it was rate controlled afib with increasing pvcs. Communicated when it turned into afib rvr and asked for metoprolol. Hour later it turned into vtach stable and “handled it like a pro” my veteran OC told me who has cardiac icu experience as well.

[ECG RHYTHM MASTER] I really liked how I was able to watch the video before/after reading the manual provided. It helps to have a written reference as well as visual.

Hi Kati- I am a new grad nurse on a neuro floor and I took your Neuro Wise course and the New Nurse Masterclass. I have never worked in acute care before, and your courses have been extremely helpful to explain the flow/day in the life of acute care nursing and how a hospital works. The neuro course has been spot on in covering the disease processes, procedures, diagnostics, labs etc. that are the norm for my unit, and which are NOT covered in nursing school. As a brand new nurse, your courses feel like having a preceptor come along side and teach me all the things I need to know, and have helped me feel not so lost and overwhelmed. Thank you for great courses and excellent content.

I recommend joining, it is a kind, supportive group. I wanted to find a community of diverse nurses interested in furthering education and being a resource for each other. Working in a small rural health center, it was important to me to reach beyond my immediate area. Good to know the resource is and will be available. Good to dip into topics that are outside my area of practice.

[NURSING SKILLS REFRESH] Refresher of hands-on clinical skills [was particularly helpful] as most are what I have seen at bedside. The pro tips of each skill were so helpful as well.

The Neuro Wise course has helped given me additional information in a clear and concise way and I think it will only benefit me as I journey through being a new grad in a neuro ICU. It is undoubtedly a steep learning curve, I will continue to make mistakes and struggle but I realize it is normal and in fact necessary that I go through it in order to become a better nurse. Thanks for all you do Kati.

Lot of useful information to enhance my nursing practice. It gave me a comprehensive review of ICU care and practices. Presently working as dialysis nurse but this course helps me to correlate my dialysis care in collaboration with icu nurses and providers. Thank you to all educators who develop this course.

I took the ICU drip for beginners and loved it! Although I am not a new RN, I found the content and rationale easy to follow. I have worked on a Med-surg unit and now the OR and I found the lesson on specific medications a great review. Thank you for making this an interesting read.
