But you can apply the principles learned in other BI tools.

I have tried every learning platform available. This was the one course that was easy to set up and get started - which, when just getting set up is difficult, is a reason enough to go elsewhere - especially when you just want to learn the material. But Maven not only supplies easy-to-follow tutorials on setting up, but each single video also has a group chat where students can ask questions and can expect an instructor's answer in return. The instructors are THE MOST RESPONSIVE and encouraging group in any learning environment I have used. As a college student, I have been provided with quicker feedback from Maven on my exact questions than I have at school. And it's never generic or a "if you are having difficulty-go to our website community or 'st.ovflw' and ask your question there" which is never a good option because you do not have time to explain EXACTLY where you are in your learning curve! As someone with a business management background who is trying to get on board in the data analytics world, I intuitively started off by doing intensive research in order to find information and build knowledge and skills, however, things easily got confusing as the input I put my hand on massively lacked structure and chronological order (one day I learn about the most basic things in excel, the next day I come across advanced articles about tools I've never even heard of). However, one really important area that all of these resources that I cam across were lacking in is the focus on SKILLS instead of tools. In contrast, after taking the "Thinking Like an Analyst" course I realized that this was a very fundamental knowledge that was crucial to have under my belt in order to kickoff this career of mine and before leaning about any tools out there; and it is not to go unmentioned, the importance of having the very well thought and intuitive structure that this course has which really did help out a lot in acquiring and retaining the information provided.

It's just crazy, the number of things that you can do just with a mastery of Excel formulas and functions. I don't regret my precious time learning the basics of Excel functions and gaining a better understanding of formulas. This allowed me to use a more dynamic approach to the formulas and functions, and enabled me to do things I was never able to before. Thanks Maven Analytics.

Of the 5 or 6 introductory, self-study, online courses for Microsoft Power BI, this is the best one. Maven's course is a good mix - the videos are substantial and presented with clarity, and there are numerous opportunities to practice what we learn. Another important factor for me is that Maven team routinely checks for questions posted at various junctures throughout the course and they are excellent in responding. It may take up to a few days, but it's better than any response interaction that I've had from any other online platform that I've used. Finally, vendors sometimes update their products, and Microsoft's Power BI is no exception. In other platforms that I've used, the content is static from the day it's created until now, and thus no consideration is taken to address any significant product changes. There are a few hints throughout this course that it was created a few years ago, but Maven revisited the course and added a lesson or two to address a few major product changes, and that's impressive to me. Maven's Pivot Table & Charts class was a great intro to dashboard design but Advanced Excel Dashboard Design will take your approach to a whole new level. You'll learn the importance of formula-based dashboard design and how to manipulate colors, charts, and KPI metric cards to tell your story. By far one of my favorite Maven classes!

After 6 months of trying to piecemeal courses and online tutorials, Maven Analytics finally provided the structure I was looking for! Every detail is well thought out and thorough.
