A small insight from my lending experience 👇 One thing that doesn’t get talked about enough: people with limited means often show exceptional financial discipline. Through my lending experience on Rang De (rangde.in ), I’ve seen repayment behaviour that genuinely challenges common assumptions — over 94% repayments completed, minimal short delays, and very few long defaults. What stands out is not just the numbers, but the intent. For many low-income borrowers, repaying on time is a matter of dignity and trust, not just obligation. This challenges a common bias: “Poor people are risky borrowers.” In reality, when given fair terms, transparency, and respect, they often prove to be more reliable than expected. Data aside, this experience has reinforced a belief for me: Creditworthiness is not just about income It’s about character, predictability, and responsibility Platforms like Rang De quietly demonstrate how financial inclusion can work when designed with empathy and discipline. #FinancialInclusion #Microfinance #RangDe #Creditworthiness #InclusiveFinance #Trust #ImpactInvesting

Many congratulations and best wishes on Rang De’s 18th birthday. I am really proud to be associated with a venture that is life changing for the many under privileged and marginalised men, women and children in our rural hinterland. Dignity not charity is a powerful call to action that brings together well intentioned citizens to offer financial help and succour to those that need it most. Wish you many, many more years of catalysing successful partnerships between the haves and the have nots! May The Force Be With You!

I have written about the absolutely incredible work that Rang De does, in the past. When I started my journey of social investing I was aware of some of the impact. But the email at the end of 2025 put it into perspective in a way that was humbling and fulfilling. The farmers, artisans, rural entrepreneurs - all individuals with lives and livelihoods. And dreams. I aim to do more and better this year. A promise I made to my son when I showed him the map - 9 states so far. And he asked me when I planned to invest to cover all states. Because at the end of the day, being a small part of the journeys of these enterprising individuals , even indirectly is a privilege. Thank you Sukhada Chaudhary , Ramakrishna NK , Smita Ram for the amazing work you do at Rang De. Wishing you the best and more success in 2026 and the years to come. #socialimpact #socialinvesting #makeadifference #change #ruralentrepreneurs

So, after 3 years of investing in rural India via Rang De, I just crossed a small milestone, just crossed 3000 rural Indian entrepreneurs that I’ve provided microloans to! This translated to ~30,420 days of livelihood in rural India. This past year this wasn't so easy with difficult Reserve Bank of India rules; had to make payment transfers only on the 1st and 15th of the month. Many thanks to the Rang De team for facilitating the investments; had to do this many a time from some hotel room at midnight in between travels! About Rang De: Rang De provides low interest peer-to-peer loans to rural India. It enables highly leveraged donations for social investors. The real return by my calcs is -3% to -5% (due to losses to inflation, non-performing assets and in my case INR devaluing), which translates to the social investment having 20-35x greater impact than traditional donations. Why I do this: A little bit of capital goes a long way in rural India. In public markets in India, it takes a lot of capital invested to create 1 job. Investing in the stock market isn't the best way for creating jobs. While not the best reference, market cap per employee is somewhere around $300k-$1M for the top Indian companies (they're just as capital efficient as non-software US companies). Rural India though is far enough behind on automation and asset starved, that a little bit of capital goes a long way in improving earnings and creating livelihoods. For reference, avg. annual household income in rural India in 2024 was INR 1.6 lakh (US$ 1881) with annual household savings of ~INR 14-15k (US$157). To join 10,000 social investors on the platform, all you need is an Indian bank account. You can join my social investment team using the referral code: KISH7664 via this link lnkd.in/gy63-M-c My Rang De profile: lnkd.in/gXW8nmRU

Best investment so far! And that too without ever knowing the IRR - for both equity and debt. ₹100cr is a major milestone for any lender, but for a P2P social lender, it's a humongous achievement! Congratulations to Smita Ram, Ramakrishna NK and the complete Rang De team. As always - #education remains closest to my heart. And Rang De gave me a chance to support 18 underprivileged JEE aspirants studying in PW (PhysicsWallah). 15 of them have fully repaid the obligation over the last 1.5 years! The best part - I googled a few of them; and found some enrolled in #IITs! That is the real socio-economic mobility. Rang De has let me live both my ideological sides together happily - "socialist by heart and capitalist by brain". Muhammad Yunus' Grameen Bank inspired the generation of lenders in us. I hope Rang De will inspire the next ones. Do join us!

I used to look at big gaps in policy or social equity and think, “Someone should fix this.” It always felt like a systemic problem - too complex for one person to move the needle. I never thought I, as an individual, could be part of the solution. Then I found Rang De. What struck me immediately was how straightforward it felt to be part of someone’s growth. I’ve always wanted to give back, but traditional donation drives often felt like a black box. With Rang De, I could invest directly in a person’s entrepreneurial journey. Real people. Real stories. Real impact. They just crossed the ₹100 crore milestone in disbursals at Rang De, and it feels like the perfect moment to celebrate the power of community. And I am grateful to play a small part. The Unselfish Selfish Deed: How P2P Lending Changed My Definition of 'Giving' The other day, I was thinking about one of the most honest lines ever written for television. It’s from Friends, one of my favourite sitcoms. Phoebe is trying to prove to Joey that a truly unselfish good deed exists. Joey, with surprising clarity, shuts her down. He says, “It made you feel good, so that makes it selfish. Look, there’s no unselfish good deeds, sorry.” I have to admit that Joey’s logic hits a nerve. Our greatest motivations, even for good, are often rooted in a desire for tangible results. But what if the system is designed so that your "selfish" desire for a return is the only way to guarantee a selfless, positive outcome for someone else? I found a platform that fits this exact paradox. During one of my early days in Tekdi Technologies someone mentioned Rang De. I hadn’t heard of it, and that quietness, away from the usual fintech noise, immediately got my attention. I logged on, and what I found wasn’t marketing fluff, but a clear, direct view of local entrepreneurs across India looking for capital, not charity. Rang-De provides a clean, clear solution: direct, affordable credit access to real people. Most of us want to make a human impact, but we don't have trenches of cash to fund entire NGOs and then just cross our fingers. Rang-De, being a peer-to-peer (P2P) lending platform, cuts through the complexity. You can look at a list of individuals - women, people with disabilities, or first-time entrepreneurs in smaller towns - and support them with a minimum investment of just a thousand rupees. You lend a lump sum, and they typically commit to an interest of around 7 to 8%, paid back over time. I started by supporting Pratima, who makes fine eri silk. She needed funds to boost her handloom business she runs using her eri spinning machine. I couldn't fund the whole thing, but as a collective on the platform, we could. You see the power of that, not as a donation drive, but as a system of collective enablement. The best part, and what makes it truly pragmatic, is that it is an investment. You are funding the entrepreneur directly, and since it’s a P2P network, there are no advisory fees (to the investor). The few investments I have done have started returning my interest at the start of every month. It’s a transaction with clear, measurable results on both sides. It's a system that lets you put your money to work for the greater good while simultaneously demonstrating financial stability for the lender. It's a technology that serves, not just disrupts. And in the world of finance, I guess you could say my good deed was finally accrued. For people like you and me, who want to make a difference but demand accountability and results, Rang-De is a tool you should truly explore. It's a pragmatic, results-oriented platform that allows us to be a part of a small business success story. Referral: lnkd.in/dV7WYhGG

Thanks all for the wishes. The truly commendable work being done though is by Rang De . The biggest factor that kept me going is their diligence and their impact partners who make sure that our capital remains safe..I have received every single rupee I have given and more (the interest where applicable). All our good intentions can be rendered void if capital gets eroded. Their network has stood the test of time and showed up as being able to successfully create impact where it is most required and also keep it sustainable. It's not a band-aid but builds livelyhood and people come out of that vicious cycle of borrowing from loan sharks. That's the most satisfying part. And in this process, we make more than what savings bank interest is. There were zero interest loans I have given too but net-net, it's a win on multiple fronts. To society and personally too. 🙂

I don't usually post on LinkedIn, but when I do... it's about something truly wholesome! Are you interested in making a meaningful impact through your investments? Let me introduce you to Rang De—India’s first RBI-regulated social investing platform. It empowers rural entrepreneurs, artisans, and farmers who often lack access to formal credit. With a minimum investment of just ₹500, you can contribute to financial inclusion and support sustainable livelihoods. Each investment not only helps individuals but also strengthens communities and creates positive economic ripple effects. Why choose Rang De? - It's trusted by a growing community of social investors. - A rigorous evaluation process ensures credibility and real impact. - Open to NRIs, OCIs, working professionals, and anyone who wants to give back to the community. - Secure onboarding with KYC and various payment options. I've been investing my own money in Rang De for nearly three years, and I plan to continue. Here's a snapshot from my dashboard to give you a sense of it: - Total invested: ₹2,75,451 - Total returned: ₹1,38,128 (the rest isn't due yet) - Interest earned: ₹9,048 (on the returned amount) - Total NPA: ₹9,049 - Fees paid to Rang De: ₹5,509 (approximately 2% of investments) - Lives impacted: 63 A few important notes: - This isn't a promotion for an untested product—it's something I've personally committed to over time. - I gain nothing financially from sharing this (just a few badges on my Rang De profile!). - There's risk involved, as with any investment—you might lose money. That said, it's a worthwhile way to give back, as it directly benefits underprivileged individuals and communities, creating lasting positive change. If this sparks your interest, I encourage you to take a closer look at Rang De (link in the first comment) and consider starting your own social investing journey—it's a simple step toward making a real difference. What are your thoughts? Have you tried social investing? I'd love to hear in the comments.

For all of us who benefited financially thanks to a liberalised and growing Indian economy, this is a fantastic opportunity to help others who need small capital to grow - not through donations but through contributing to affordable loans. Thank you Rang De for sharing and amplifying my experience in "social investing". This has always been close to my heart and one of the most cherished opportunities I ever got.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and encouragement. Some of you have reached out to find more about Rang De First… it’s not a donation, it’s social investment, you get repaid with interest. Rang De organises and manages micro loans for people. Multiple people come together on Rang De platform to fulfill the loan amount. Great way to support people who need these loans the most. You can start with less than a price of a coffee, think about it…. For the price of a coffee or a meal outside you can help change someone’s life, create a livelihood.

𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚'𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭 In 2022, I experimented with lending small amounts to small ventures across India through Rang De. I lent a few thousands to - Shivamurthy from Hassan, Karnatka for purchasing 3 cows and fodder, - Jai Kumar from Rohru, Himachal for buying supplies for his apple farm - Anjan Sarmah from Biswanath, Assam for procuring fish seeds - Gandimathi G from Namakkal, Tamil Nadu for her ambitious venture of mushroom cultivation - Pinki Devi from Mahendargarh, Haryana for adding more goats to her existing dairy business with 6 goats and so on ... Here are the findings from that experiment: 1. Indians (mango people - aam janta) across the length and breadth of this country are honest people. They don't run away, they work hard and they pay you back. Only 1.38% of the borrowed sum is marked as NPA. It is even lower than 2.8% NPA (as of March, 2024) of scheduled commercial banks of India. 2. These businesses are cash flow positive and profitable. Their business models are tried, tested and just need capital to scale. 28% of them were able to foreclose their loans earlier than they were due and pay 6.7% interest as well. 3. Easier access to affordable credit can spur economic mobility and reduce inequality in India while generating returns for investors. Note: These businesses / livelihoods are often crushed by local lenders who charge them as high as 20% which even most of us can't afford. Our loan helps them build a credit history which allows them to take loans from banks in the future. It is not charity or dole - This is Compassionate Capitalism. Smita Ram | Ramakrishna NK - More power to you! I am definitely going to quadruple down on my investments in real India.

Livelihood + Sustainability — two themes close to my heart. Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Chandra, an inspiring e-auto driver. Thanks to Rang De, a social finance platform, he was able to access affordable credit and replace his diesel auto with a cleaner, more efficient e-auto from Racer Energy. The impact? ✅ Lower Capex of e-Auto & hence less EMI ✅ Doubling of daily income (Can now send both kids to school) ✅ Zero tailpipe emissions ✅ Reduced Physical exertion -- Driving an auto is much easier now This is what inclusive, sustainable progress looks like — when the right credit at the right time transforms not just livelihoods, but entire communities. Kudos to Rang De and Racer Energy for making this possible. You too can drive change - one family at a time by investing through Rang De. #Livelihoods #Sustainability #ImpactInvesting #SocialInnovation #CleanMobility #RangDe #EAuto #ClimateAction Prajwal Potluri Madhura DasGupta Sinha Abhishek Dhasmana

What is the right age to teach children financial literacy? Also if it comes with a layer of complexity will they understand what it means? I was explaining the concept of social investment to my son using the Rang De website and app, a while ago. The first time he saw it he asked me when I would reach a stage where I had made an investment in rural entrepreneurs in each state. The second time we spoke, he went through the profiles to understand the needs that the entrepreneurs were taking loans for. The third time it came up, he asked me - "Would you make an investment in someone I choose from the group of investees?" My response(surprised!) - "Yes sure, but you need to explain to me how you chose that rural investee". His immediate question was about how I was making my choices. I shared a few thoughts on that with him and he went about looking at the list, going through each detail. Finally he shared the below investee and wrapped up the whole discussion saying that he felt she deserved it. There are some things the schools will teach the children. But a lot of things we need to teach, as parents - that people and their dreams matter. And investing in that, is what creates meaning for us too. We find our life's purpose by contributing to someone else's purpose. 𝐁𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 Rang De Today’s auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya; a day celebrated for making new beginnings, making new investments, and buying precious metals like gold, owes its origins to the legend of the Pandavas, who, during their exile, shared whatever they gathered on that day. Impressed by their selflessness, Lord Krishna, on this day, bestowed upon them the Akshaya Patra-the inexhaustible vessel; which ensured they never ran out of food during their exile; the vessel symbolized the attainment of eternal prosperity. This story has always resonated with me: real prosperity lies not just in accumulating, but in sharing. This year, instead of adding gold to my portfolio, I chose to invest in something that echoes the spirit of the Akshaya Patra: hope and opportunity for others. As a social investor with Rang De, an RBI-regulated P2P lending platform, I am able to lend directly to rural entrepreneurs and small business owners across India, who are often excluded from traditional credit channels. These are hardworking individuals-farmers, artisans, and first-time entrepreneurs-whose dreams need just a little support to take flight. Through Rang De my investment doesn’t just generate returns; it helps someone start or grow their business, create jobs, and build a sustainable livelihood This year, I encourage my network to consider how we can all be vessels of abundance-not just for ourselves, but for the many who are still waiting for their opportunity. Affordable and hassle-free credit is crucial for smallholder farmers to gain the agency they need to avoid distress selling and purchase agri-inputs on time. For generations, farmers have relied on local moneylenders or Adatiyas for everything—from buying seeds to selling their produce—often trapping them in cycles of debt and vulnerability. By ensuring access to fair credit, we empower farmers to make independent financial decisions, ultimately strengthening the rural economy. Kudos to Rang De for addressing this critical challenge and working towards a more sustainable and dignified future for our farmers!

Please do visit its page on LinkedIn and its website to explore ways to set-up your social investment portfolio. This investment portfolio is rewarding in ways that one cannot measure, its priceless! More than that and of course with due regard to our personal and professional priorities too, a little bit of social investment by us can bring about a huge difference in the lives of those who may be less privileged but equally or more deserving and hardworking than any one here! It's a kind of social responsibility that those with privilege , position, financial security should take upon themselves, be it with Rang De or any other opportunities of one's choice. And Rang De is a wonderful platform to explore this and build our social investment portfolios! It's interesting how I found out at Rang De through a social media platform , the then Twitter , while following one of their team members , who posts amazing book recommendations and interesting and thoughtful quotes!! #socialinvestements

My year started on two good notes, one professional and one personal. Professionally, the first working day of 2025 for me started in India as I kicked off a 5-city 14-day Xylem India business visit to meet our India team, customers and partners. Coincidentally, on the personal front, I also hit a nice personal milestone the first day. I crossed 2000 rural Indian entrepreneurs that I’ve provided micro loans to via Rang De, translating to ~22,800 days of livelihood in rural India. Rang De provides low interest peer-to-peer loans to rural India. It enables highly leveraged donations for social investors. The real return by my calcs is -3% to -5% (due to losses to inflation and non-performing assets), which translates to the social investment having 20-35x greater impact than traditional donations. To join 10,000 social investors on the platform, all you need is an Indian bank account. You can join my social investment team using the referral code: KISH7664. After graduating from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, I had the privilege of working with two NGOs. One worked for the well-being of women and the other worked for the well-being of people living their lives with disabilities. Working full-time in NGO communications may not make you rich, but the lessons you learn about society and Bharat’s challenges are invaluable. I want to share two stories that have left an indelible mark on me. The first is of a woman entrepreneur from Meghalaya who approached multiple banks for a loan to grow her business. Despite her potential and determination, she was turned away because of her gender. Left with no choice, she borrowed from a private moneylender. When COVID struck, she initially defaulted on her payments, but she didn’t give up. She worked harder, arranged the funds, and paid back the principal along with interest. But the moneylender refused to update her CIBIL score, effectively destroying her creditworthiness. The second story is about a blind man from Uttar Pradesh who lost his sight due to an acid attack. He was employed in a factory, but his co-workers found his appearance unsettling, and he was fired. With dreams of starting his own business, he approached banks and financial institutions for a loan. Their response? A resounding no, because they believed a blind person couldn’t possibly manage a business. Even someone like Srikanth Bolla, a blind entrepreneur with a Massachusetts Institute of Technology degree, faced similar challenges during his early years. Both stories reveal a grim truth. Access to credit isn’t always about financial metrics and is often shaped by society’s biases. Women and people with disabilities are labeled as "unbankable" not because of their capabilities but because of deeply entrenched prejudices. But change is possible. When I discovered Rang De, an organization leveraging the power of social investment to create access to credit, I saw hope. They’re tackling this systemic issue head-on, enabling individuals like the woman entrepreneur and the blind man to rewrite their narratives. With returns of up to 8% per annum, your investment offers decent financial returns plus your investment creates livelihood opportunities for women entrepreneurs and people living their lives with disabilities. Yes, Rang De’s initiatives are not just about finance; they’re about transforming the very perception of what’s possible. They’ve listed funds for women entrepreneurs and people with disabilities. I’m not an influencer, but I believe in this cause. This is a chance to invest in Bharat’s future, to support the unbankable, and to drive change. Check out Rang De’s website, explore their funds, and take a step toward making a difference. Together, let’s build a more inclusive, equitable, and resilient Bharat.

I am thrilled to share a personal milestone that has filled my heart with joy—receiving my first repayment from Rang De ! 🎉 This moment is not just about the financial return; it symbolizes the positive change we can create when we choose to invest in social causes. By parking our money in social investments, we have the incredible opportunity to support rural entrepreneurs and individuals with disabilities. These investments are more than just transactions; they are lifelines that empower communities, foster innovation, and uplift lives. There are so many stories of impact around us - some heard of and some unheard( as yet). Given the extensive work we do through OMBC on partnering with NGOs, individuals and governments, for social change, and that at the core of it was something unique( healthy baking), when I find something done differently especially in this space, it draws me towards it. I discovered Rang De towards the middle of this year. And found immediate resonance. Because I realized that many times what stops us from reaching our full potential and also from leading full lives is lack of financial independence. Especially for women. It perpetuates the inherent bias that women cannot be 'providers' and keeps them dependent on the male members of their families. I started my journey of making small social investments in June this year and 6 months down the line here is where I am. Invested in 9 women entrepreneurs across 7 states. Of which 7 are first time borrowers. And guess what - monthly repayment on time of the loan plus interest amount has been stands close to 99%. I remember a conversation with Venkat, who runs a wonderful NGO called Swabhimaan when I was concerned about one healthy bake distribution during the pandemic. We had over a 1000 pieces of the bake and yet the number of people was 5000+. I felt we were only covering a few but he changed my perspective - because he said perhaps to me it felt small because it was 1 piece per person only. But for that person it was the only meal of the day that came through for them and therefore a very big deal. My point - 1 state, 1 person, a small amount invested. None of this will matter when we flip the view and see it from the eyes of those who have received. Small steps. Big impact. Because of the power of the collective. I recently discovered an idea where every ounce of Risk is worth – Rang De. Rang De is a platform that allows you to invest in areas where support is most needed, with a model that’s both socially meaningful and financially accessible. You can choose to invest in ventures across 13 states in India, backing entrepreneurs who are already making a difference in their communities. What makes Rang De even more unique is the flexibility it offers – there's no minimum investment amount. You contribute what you can and still earn a solid 6-7% return on your investment. Even in cases where risks exist, the potential impact makes it a risk worth taking. A big shoutout to Smita Ram and the entire Rang De team for the amazing work they’re doing to empower people across the country. I hope more people join this movement and become part of the investment team, supporting growth and change across India!

One of the 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 - 𝗙𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘀 & 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 Investment - 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🤔 Now, what if we could combine the power of education with the safety of an FD—helping others while earning interest? That’s exactly what I experimented a year ago with Rang De’s P2P lending scheme. One had invested a token amount of Rs. 10,000 and it helped 4 students with the education. The transparency in tracking how these funds were used was remarkable—something I haven’t even seen with large home loans. The fund i invested was a joint initiative between PW (PhysicsWallah) and Rang De students aimed at low-income backgrounds. RangeDe is a NBFC peer to peer lending platform which is helping fund rural students, entrepreneurs, artisans, agripreneurs to enable financial inclusion. Most of the investment in this fund provides ~6% interest p.a. which is similar to bank fixed deposits. Over the past 15+ years, Rang De has gathered 10,300+ social investors and supported 23,000+ social entrepreneurs. The organization, driven by tech and purpose, has the potential to make an even bigger impact. This experience inspired me to share my journey and encourage others to explore impactful ways to invest. A huge shout out for Smita Ram & Ramakrishna NK for building such an impactful organization. Love what Rang De is doing to solve financial inequality at the grassroots! They are transforming rural economies by offering microcredit solutions that enable small entrepreneurs, farmers, and women in underserved areas to build sustainable livelihoods. By tailoring financial products to meet the unique needs of grassroots communities, they are fostering local innovation and reducing reliance on predatory lending. It’s such a targeted approach and the only we can end cyclical poverty.

I recently invested with Rang De, the P2P lending platform that's transforming access to credit for underprivileged Indians. A truly commendable cause. We’ve shared their story previously at Going Big On India - we love their work. My investment experience with them has been amazing, to say the least. The user experience is outstanding. The portal is seamless. The information is very clear. I can stay on top of everything. I’m also amazed by their customer support team who are super helpful, empathetic, and quick to respond. It’s so good to see Indian platforms putting this attention to detail that has often been lacking in the past. I have written about this before and I’ll say it again - customer retention comes from making your customers feel valued and loved. Rang De is a great example of the change we are seeing in India. Smita Ram and Ramakrishna NK, you have done a great job with this! So when will you invest in Rang De?

Imagine the impact of just ₹100 transforming someone's life. Meet Rang De India’s first peer-to-peer lending platform that’s bringing affordable credit to unbanked communities. Rang De isn’t just another microfinance organization — they’re transforming social investing by connecting YOU directly with those who need it the most. For over 5 years, I’ve been investing in fellow Indians through Rang De, and the results have been nothing short of inspiring. What’s truly remarkable is the cyclical nature of this impact — the same ₹100, when reinvested, continues to uplift lives, again and again. Every rupee you invest whispers a promise to a struggling farmer, an aspiring artisan, or a determined entrepreneur. It says, “I believe in you. Your dreams matter.” Thousands of our brothers and sisters have already risen above poverty, thanks to the support of people like you and me. If you’re ready to create lasting change, visit Rang De and see how even the smallest investment can make a big difference. Together, let’s help our nation grow, one small loan at a time. Let us invest in our fellow Indians. Ramakrishna NK Smita Ram #RangDe #SocialImpact #InvestInIndia #EmpowerLives

But this year post watching a beautiful video and a post by Smita Ram, I invested in the future of 2 amazing women entrepreneurs in Rajasthan who needed the money for ramping up the millet production in their farms. I know them, just through their names and their purpose, but there is so much fulfillment in knowing that this small investment is making an impact for them. Thank you Rang De for helping normal people like me to help make a difference to the lifelines of our country.

#Rangde - Enabling sustainable livelihoods for nano entrepreneurs at the bottom of the pyramid Rang De is the first RBI regulated peer to peer platform and an NBFC providing affordable credit to unbanked communities. 👍 Amazing platform, quick onboarding of investors, investment at a click and one gets to see the dashboard with regular updates. 👉 78 crores disbursed so far with 10,000 plus investors. This is huge work but still a trickle considering the size of the problem to be solved There are thousands of foundations, philanthropic investors doing yeoman service already. At any individual level many of you may be doing your bit in supporting others who are in need. With Rang De it becomes easy, transparent and one can invest quickly. However, for the size of the country with a large population who are struggling to sustain themselves a small infusion of capital will make them stand on their own feet for life 👍 They don't need freebies but need capital to stand on their own feet. A small nudge for the next 1 million investors to invest 1000 rupees which will translate to 100 crores of investment and support 100,000 entrepreneurs/farmers. Rang De is an excellent platform. Instead of being an arm chair critic, I can invest a small amount in people of North East or people anywhere in India who can do much better with a little support. The platform is doing an excellent job. PS This is not a paid comment. i am writing based on my experience.

"One person can make a difference and everyone should try it" - John Fitzgerald Kennedy I have been trying to share my part of responsibility of giving back to society in someway but always found donations to NGOs and government funds dubious. Never knew how the money was utilised or actually being used for real causes. Then one day, one of my friends introduced me to "Rang De" and since then I have channelised all my inputs to help in uplifting needy people's causes. There are women who need just INR 10-15k ($100+) to buy/repair old sewing machines, some one who wants to repair their shops and someone who direly need funds for new crops but their nill credit scores dont give them access to bank loans for such amounts and they dont want to get strangled at the hands of money lenders. Rang de team does a fabulous job in scouting their veracity and giving them platform, for better off people like us to contribute. This post isnt to boast about my holier than thou donations part but if because of this post some of you can start contributing to such individuals and causes (Nature disasters like floods), then I believe we have started our journey of being better off individuals in life. Pl do go thru Rang De website and start contributing in any way you can. Even 500/- INR can help someone build their lives in Indian hinterlands. Below is my interview by Rang De team after being with them since 5+ years. Do give it a read if you have time !! lnkd.in/dS3UFAXq #socialupliftment #society #investment #bottomofpyramid

90% people don't know about “Social Investing"! And here's how it's Empowering Dreams & my experience with Social Investing Journey via Rang De. Over coffee this weekend, a friend asked me about my involvement in social investing. Let me share my incredible journey with Rang De —a peer-to-peer lending platform based in India that connects social investors like us with individuals from underserved communities. 🔍 What Is Rang De? Rang De empowers dreams by providing loans for education, business ventures, and home improvements. As investors, we choose whom to support based on their unique stories and goals. 🚀 Why Rang De? 1. Impactful Giving: Rang De goes beyond charity. It allows us to lend directly, creating a ripple effect as loans are repaid and reinvested. 2. Transparency: We see where our money goes and track borrowers' progress. 3. Women and Entrepreneurs: Many borrowers are women and rural entrepreneurs, leading to broader community benefits. One such story was Meera's Tailoring Business I invested in Meera, who needed funds to expand her tailoring business. Over time, I watched her business grow, knowing I played a part in her success. 📈 The Ripple Effect Rang De's impact extends beyond loans. It improves education, living conditions, and local job opportunities. 🔗 Getting Started Visit the link below to begin your social investing journey. "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." I am thrilled to share that my favorite social investing platform, Rang De, has recently reached an incredible milestone of 10,000 social investors! Truly honored to be part of such a remarkable community. Rang De is an RBI-regulated peer-to-peer lending platform dedicated to providing affordable and timely credit to unbanked individuals across the country. Unlike donations, individuals like us lend money at affordable rates to support the livelihood and education needs of these communities. The recipients repay the loans according to a predefined schedule, and these funds can either be withdrawn or reinvested. My association with Rang De spans nearly 14 years. My journey began when a friend invited me to a documentary screening on farmer suicides, which Rang De was hosting in Bangalore. Their mission to offer credit to families overlooked by traditional lenders or exploited by non-traditional ones, while simultaneously boosting their self-esteem and confidence, deeply inspired me. For the first 1-2 years, I actively volunteered with Rang De, and for the past 12 years, I have been a dedicated passive investor. I feel really proud and happy to have positively impacted 516 Indian lives and families so far, and I look forward to continuing to contribute regularly in the future. If you're looking for a meaningful way to give back, I highly recommend checking out Rang De! #india #makeadifference #socialimpact #financialinclusion #gratitude #inspiration #givingback

An excellent example of tech for good with a slice of effective altruism. If you've ever wondered how can you help a local artisan preserving a heritage art form, a small farmer ensuring his livelihood, handloom workers, small businesses or gruh udyog, then Rang De ticks so many checks. Tapping the potential of emerging new class of micro investors, enabling grass root level change and making lives better. With them, you can invest as small as 100 INR to extend micro loans to small businesses in mostly rural parts of India (Rang De is a peer-to-peer lending platform). You also get attractive interest rates upon maturity of your tenure. All this, while giving below market interest rates to the individuals seeking livelihood with the help of a micro loan. Some loans are as small as 3,000 INR, which is sufficient for some individuals for their livelihood. They also have set up funds which help students receive coaching for higher education, region specific (like North East fund), cause specific (like climate action) and so on. It would be futile to summarize their hard work and ingenuity in a couple of words. I've been following Rang De for quite some time, and I believe it should have more visibility than it presently has. I'm no linkedin influencer, but this repost is my modest attempt to take Rang De to more people.

The process is simple and transparent. I’m sharing this to encourage others to invest in those who need credit, especially when it’s not readily or affordably available to them.

Here is a screenshot of my Rang De dashboard highlighting the repayment summary of the money I loaned rural entrepreneurs in India. As you can see, they don't default (less than 1%) unless it comes down to life or death situation. More importantly, these rural entrepreneurs take pride in the fact that it's a loan (4-6% interest rate) and not charity. Another reason they are very grateful in general is because if not for you, they will likely have to pay an interest rate of >24% to other financial institutions. I do understand that you may not be able to beat even inflation with such low returns, but still consider if you can. I've been associated with Rang De since 2013 and would request you too to invest in those from rural communities whom the formal establishments have mostly failed. My social investing impact via Rang De: 📍 Invested across 12 states 💼 Provided 103 days of livelihood 👥 Impacted 38 lives! 😍 I've been investing in unbanked individuals through Rang De, an RBI-regulated peer-to-peer lending platform, since 2021. Once in a few months, I log in and check the following: 🔍 If I'm getting my money back ❌ If there are any defaults 👥 Whom else I should help 📑 Other causes to support Last weekend I got a newsletter from Smita Ram about the artisan's fund and having been interested in sustainable fashion since college, I felt like I had to invest in this fund. I logged into the platform, searched the fund, and invested some amount. A few months back, Rang De introduced the auto-invest feature, and I think that's the best feature on the platform. Once someone repays the amount, the money doesn't sit idle in my account, it gets re-invested, and the loop continues, helping me to invest in more individuals and causes without having to take manual action every time. When I recently logged in, I was just happy to see that I have been able to help 38 people, and there have been no cases of people defaulting on re-payment! Honestly, I feel like a tiny shark ( like the people from Shark Tank India, I mean 🙈 ). Though it is not a huge amount that I've been investing, I'm glad I can help women, farmers, artisans, and shopkeepers across #Bharat. Kudos to Smita Ram and Ramakrishna NK for building such an amazing, useful platform. Sharing Rang De link in the comments. 👇 #SocialImpact #Investment #Lending #Finance
