𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚'𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭 In 2022, I experimented with lending small amounts to small ventures across India through Rang De. I lent a few thousands to - Shivamurthy from Hassan, Karnatka for purchasing 3 cows and fodder, - Jai Kumar from Rohru, Himachal for buying supplies for his apple farm - Anjan Sarmah from Biswanath, Assam for procuring fish seeds - Gandimathi G from Namakkal, Tamil Nadu for her ambitious venture of mushroom cultivation - Pinki Devi from Mahendargarh, Haryana for adding more goats to her existing dairy business with 6 goats and so on ... Here are the findings from that experiment: 1. Indians (mango people - aam janta) across the length and breadth of this country are honest people. They don't run away, they work hard and they pay you back. Only 1.38% of the borrowed sum is marked as NPA. It is even lower than 2.8% NPA (as of March, 2024) of scheduled commercial banks of India. 2. These businesses are cash flow positive and profitable. Their business models are tried, tested and just need capital to scale. 28% of them were able to foreclose their loans earlier than they were due and pay 6.7% interest as well. 3. Easier access to affordable credit can spur economic mobility and reduce inequality in India while generating returns for investors. Note: These businesses / livelihoods are often crushed by local lenders who charge them as high as 20% which even most of us can't afford. Our loan helps them build a credit history which allows them to take loans from banks in the future. It is not charity or dole - This is Compassionate Capitalism. Smita Ram | Ramakrishna NK - More power to you! I am definitely going to quadruple down on my investments in real India.

Livelihood + Sustainability — two themes close to my heart. Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Chandra, an inspiring e-auto driver. Thanks to Rang De, a social finance platform, he was able to access affordable credit and replace his diesel auto with a cleaner, more efficient e-auto from Racer Energy. The impact? ✅ Lower Capex of e-Auto & hence less EMI ✅ Doubling of daily income (Can now send both kids to school) ✅ Zero tailpipe emissions ✅ Reduced Physical exertion -- Driving an auto is much easier now This is what inclusive, sustainable progress looks like — when the right credit at the right time transforms not just livelihoods, but entire communities. Kudos to Rang De and Racer Energy for making this possible. You too can drive change - one family at a time by investing through Rang De. #Livelihoods #Sustainability #ImpactInvesting #SocialInnovation #CleanMobility #RangDe #EAuto #ClimateAction Prajwal Potluri Madhura DasGupta Sinha Abhishek Dhasmana

What is the right age to teach children financial literacy? Also if it comes with a layer of complexity will they understand what it means? I was explaining the concept of social investment to my son using the Rang De website and app, a while ago. The first time he saw it he asked me when I would reach a stage where I had made an investment in rural entrepreneurs in each state. The second time we spoke, he went through the profiles to understand the needs that the entrepreneurs were taking loans for. The third time it came up, he asked me - "Would you make an investment in someone I choose from the group of investees?" My response(surprised!) - "Yes sure, but you need to explain to me how you chose that rural investee". His immediate question was about how I was making my choices. I shared a few thoughts on that with him and he went about looking at the list, going through each detail. Finally he shared the below investee and wrapped up the whole discussion saying that he felt she deserved it. There are some things the schools will teach the children. But a lot of things we need to teach, as parents - that people and their dreams matter. And investing in that, is what creates meaning for us too. We find our life's purpose by contributing to someone else's purpose. 𝐁𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐲𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 Rang De Today’s auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya; a day celebrated for making new beginnings, making new investments, and buying precious metals like gold, owes its origins to the legend of the Pandavas, who, during their exile, shared whatever they gathered on that day. Impressed by their selflessness, Lord Krishna, on this day, bestowed upon them the Akshaya Patra-the inexhaustible vessel; which ensured they never ran out of food during their exile; the vessel symbolized the attainment of eternal prosperity. This story has always resonated with me: real prosperity lies not just in accumulating, but in sharing. This year, instead of adding gold to my portfolio, I chose to invest in something that echoes the spirit of the Akshaya Patra: hope and opportunity for others. As a social investor with Rang De, an RBI-regulated P2P lending platform, I am able to lend directly to rural entrepreneurs and small business owners across India, who are often excluded from traditional credit channels. These are hardworking individuals-farmers, artisans, and first-time entrepreneurs-whose dreams need just a little support to take flight. Through Rang De my investment doesn’t just generate returns; it helps someone start or grow their business, create jobs, and build a sustainable livelihood This year, I encourage my network to consider how we can all be vessels of abundance-not just for ourselves, but for the many who are still waiting for their opportunity. Affordable and hassle-free credit is crucial for smallholder farmers to gain the agency they need to avoid distress selling and purchase agri-inputs on time. For generations, farmers have relied on local moneylenders or Adatiyas for everything—from buying seeds to selling their produce—often trapping them in cycles of debt and vulnerability. By ensuring access to fair credit, we empower farmers to make independent financial decisions, ultimately strengthening the rural economy. Kudos to Rang De for addressing this critical challenge and working towards a more sustainable and dignified future for our farmers!

I am delighted to have found Rang De and wanted to introduce it to you, the readers here or may be re-introduce it here. I am assuming that I found it pretty late in the day but then, better late than never! So, here I am , very happy to find and explore social investment through Rang De ! Please do visit its page on LinkedIn and its website to explore ways to set-up your social investment portfolio. This investment portfolio is rewarding in ways that one cannot measure, its priceless! More than that and of course with due regard to our personal and professional priorities too, a little bit of social investment by us can bring about a huge difference in the lives of those who may be less privileged but equally or more deserving and hardworking than any one here! It's a kind of social responsibility that those with privilege , position, financial security should take upon themselves, be it with Rang De or any other opportunities of one's choice. And Rang De is a wonderful platform to explore this and build our social investment portfolios! It's interesting how I found out at Rang De through a social media platform , the then Twitter , while following one of their team members , who posts amazing book recommendations and interesting and thoughtful quotes!! #socialinvestements
